Frequent use of antibiotics and steroids can contribute to yeast overgrowth as well as pregnancy, menstruation, diabetes and the use of birth control pills. They can appear as a flat red rash having scalloped edges that may itch or cause pain. People with weakened immune systems tend to attract different forms of candidiasis and should contact their provider with any new symptoms or infections.
