Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common of all skin cancers which grows slowly and seldom spreads. Almost all basal cell carcinomas occur on parts of the body most exposed to the sun such as; face, ears, neck, scalp, shoulders, and back. Those with the highest risk have fair skin, red or blond hair, and blue, green or grey eyes. More and more people in their twenties and thirties are being treated for this skin cancer. People who have had a basal cell carcinoma are at risk of developing others over the years. Regular dermatology visits are recommended. They usually appear as a small, flesh colored or pink bump or nodule on the head, neck, or hands. Occasionally, these nodules appear on the trunk of the body, usually as flat growths.
Treatment Options: Basal cell can be treated with surgical removal or topical therapies and has a high cure rate if detected early.
