GentleLase Laser

The GentleLase Laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is transformed into heat which destroys the hair follicle however leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. There is a cooling agent that is sprayed on the skin cooling the upper layers of skin to minimize discomfort from the treatment. Laser hair removal is effective on almost any area of the body where smoother, hair-free and younger skin is desired. The laser will not work on white or gray hair types or for those that have hormonal imbalances. Most patients require 4 to 6 treatments however for optimal benefits depends on the area treated, hair density and your hair’s growth cycle. Treatments should be performed once signs of hair re-growth appear, usually 6 to 8 week intervals.

Procedure:

During the procedure, a snapping sensation will occur. The treatment duration depends on body area and size. After the procedure you may experience redness and welt/follicular reaction surrounding the treated hair follicles.

Side effects:

Immediately following the treatment, you may experience a slight redness, puffiness and a warm sensation which will subside in a day or two. Avoid intense sun exposure and tanning at least one week after treatment. Wearing an SPF of 30 is recommended in areas of treatment.

LightSheer Diode Laser

The LightSheer Diode Laser achieves an effective and faster hair removal for most patients. The light energy given from this laser is absorbed specifically by pigment in the hair shaft. The energy heats the hair which in turn heats the follicle to destroy it without damaging the surrounding skin. The typical number of treatments is at least 4 to 10 to achieve near-complete, long term hair loss. The LightSheer Diode Laser has been successfully used worldwide. Most skin types work with this laser, however fair or red hair may not respond well to treatment.

Procedure:

The laser light emitted is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed, or turned on, for a fraction of a second. The pulse duration is just long enough to damage the follicle, while the system’s cooling hand piece helps protect the skin by conductive cooling during the laser energy. Following the treatment, the site may be swollen, appear red and feel like a mild sunburn which will subside within 30 minutes to a week.

Side effects:

Some patients may experience pain, blistering, edema, crusting, and pigmentation changes.
