Pityriasis Rosea
Home Pityriasis Rosea

Pityriasis Rosea (PR) is a common, harmless and non contagious skin problem resulting in a rash. It starts from a single, scaling spot, the “mother” often appearing 1-20 days before the general rash which covers mainly the trunk but may spread to the thighs, upper arms, and neck. PR usually avoids the face, although sometimes a few spots spread to the cheeks. Itching may be associated and usually the rash lasts 6-8 weeks.

Treatment Options: PR clears by itself. Treatment of cortisone ointment or oral cortisone does not speed the cure; it only brings the itching under control. Soap irritates and worsens the rash therefore recommended to use plain water when bathing
