Home Rosacea

Rosacea is a common skin disease that is estimated to affect well over 14 million Americans. While the cause is unknown, it has been associated with peptic indigestion and tends to affect people who are fair skinned. It is especially noticeable on the nose, cheeks, mid-forehead and chin with pimples, bumps, small visible blood vessels, and irritated eyes or flushing. The redness may come and go and mild itching or burning may occur. Common trigger factors are: exercise, sun/wind exposure, hot weather, hot baths, stress, spicy foods or alcohol.

Treatment Options: Treatment for Rosacea is specific to each person and severity of the condition. Most common treatment options include antibacterial medicines, oral antibiotics, topical creams and gels, or laser. Skin care tips for those with Rosacea are: use mild soaps or cleansers without scrubbing, avoid overexposure to sun and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (UVA & UVB) with an SPF of 30 or greater.
